Modern oral care with effect – CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL

CANNEFF® DNT GEL is an innovative, clinically tested medical product that plays an important role in modern oral care due to its unique combination of active ingredients cannabidiol (CBD) and squalane.

What exactly is CANNEFF® DNT GEL?

CANNEFF® DNT GEL is a certified Class IIa medical device for use in the oral cavity. It contains a unique, patented combination of:

  • CBD (Cannabidiol) – 100 mg per 10 ml and
  • Squalane – a skin-identical lipid with regenerative properties

CANNEFF® DNT GEL is based on a unique, patented active ingredient combination of cannabidiol (CBD) and squalane, specifically developed for use in the oral cavity. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that protect cells from damage. It can eliminate the harmful effects of free oxygen radicals (aggressive, highly reactive, cell-damaging particles) in inflamed tissue by creating a healing microenvironment that positively affects repair and regeneration. Squalane, a skin-identical lipid, forms a moisturizing protective barrier on the irritated mucosa, reduces dryness, and supports tissue regeneration.

The main purpose of CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL is to create a protective barrier for the damaged soft tissues of the oral cavity, restore their natural microenvironment, and eliminate free oxygen radicals in these tissues. This leads to a reduced risk of further damage, accelerated healing and regeneration, including pain relief.

The formulation is complemented by well-tolerated excipients such as water, glycerin, carbomer, and chlorhexidine digluconate in low concentration (0.04%). The gel is free from alcohol, irritating preservatives, and antibiotics, making it especially suitable for sensitive mucous membranes and very well tolerated even with prolonged use.

How does CANNEFF® DNT GEL work in the oral cavity?

The main benefit of using CANNEFF DENTAL GEL is to promote oral homeostasis, meaning the maintenance of natural, stable conditions in the oral cavity. CANNEFF DENTAL GEL forms an effective barrier that relieves gum pain and reduces bleeding. This is associated with a lower rate of inflammation, which significantly affects periodontal disease. Periodontitis leads to a gradual breakdown of the bone and ligament structures that hold the teeth in the jaw. This results in a significant improvement in overall oral health.

Applications of CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL

CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL helps to regenerate and soothe damaged oral tissues. It supports healing after dental procedures and effectively relieves pain caused by aphthae and blisters. CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL is used for the prevention and regeneration of gum inflammation.

The product is suitable for a variety of oral complaints and helps to:

to prevent and regenerate and supports postoperative care after dental procedures. The list of applications is continuously expanded in line with the results of further clinical studies. Some examples of additional applications with regenerative effects of CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL are listed here:

  • Periodontitis
  • Pressure points from dentures
  • Pressure points from orthodontic appliances
  • Stomatitis
  • Mechanically induced micro-injuries
  • Thermally induced mucosal irritations
  • Chemically induced mucosal irritations
  • Wound healing after tooth extractions
  • Wound healing after implantations
  • Wound healing after periodontal surgery
  • Wound healing after biopsies in the oral cavity
  • Mucositis (e.g., due to chemotherapy or radiation)
  • Recurrent oral inflammations
  • Sensitive or irritated oral mucosa
  • Long-term care for elderly patients with poor oral hygiene

Especially for patients with sensitive mucosa or chronic inflammation, CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL is a suitable alternative to antiseptic or antibiotic preparations.

Scientifically proven – overview of study results

Two clinical studies with placebo control and double-blind design prove:

  • Significant reduction of the gingival index, bleeding index, and inflammation markers
  • No side effects with use over several weeks
  • Faster healing after surgical procedures in the oral cavity
  • Pain relief for mucosal lesions and aphthae

In the preclinical area, inhibition of pathogenic germs and activation of regeneration processes were also demonstrated.

It has been confirmed that human gingival fibroblasts express the cannabinoid receptor CB2. The present results show a decreasing trend in the production of proinflammatory IL 6 and IL 8 in lipopolysaccharide-induced cells upon exposure to cannabidiol (CBD). In contrast, there is an increased production of both cytokines in lipopolysaccharide-induced cell production. CBD showed antimicrobial activity against the pathogen P. gingivalis. It was also demonstrated to activate the Nrf-2 signaling pathway, requiring a MIC of 1.5 µg/ml. In the clinical study, a statistically significant improvement in gingival scores, gum bleeding, and modified gingival scores was observed between the placebo and CANNEFF® DNT GEL groups after 56 days. Cannabidiol led to a reduction in inflammation and the growth of selected pathogenic periodontal bacteria. The clinical study showed a statistically significant improvement after using CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL. No adverse effects of CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL were reported by patients or observed during clinical examination throughout the study.

Advantages over conventional products

CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL combines clinically proven efficacy, high tolerability, and a unique active ingredient combination in one product. It is therefore a modern, evidence-based, and safe alternative to classic dental preparations, especially for chronic inflammations, wound healing, and mucosal care in the oral cavity.

Modern oral care with effect – CANNEFF® DNT GEL

CANNEFF® DNT GEL is an innovative, clinically tested medical product that plays an important role in modern oral care due to its unique active ingredient combination of cannabidiol (CBD) and squalane. Its relevance arises especially from the high disease burden: worldwide, 20–50% of the population is affected by periodontitis, and peri-implant mucositis occurs in up to 65% of implant patients. These diseases, if untreated, lead to tooth loss and implant failure – thus representing a significant health risk.

Unlike many conventional products, CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL acts antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory without relying on antibiotics. This provides a forward-looking solution in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a central problem in modern medicine. Clinical studies demonstrate significant improvement in gingivitis and peri-implant inflammations, effective pain reduction, and accelerated wound healing – all with excellent tolerability.

Thanks to its broad applicability – from gum inflammation to postoperative mucosal care to aphthae – and its non-irritating, alcohol-free formulation, CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL offers a particularly patient-friendly and safe alternative to classic antiseptic or antibiotic preparations. In a time when effective, non-antibiotic therapies are more in demand than ever, this product sets new standards in dental inflammation and wound treatment.

Whether gum inflammation, implant care, or mucosal irritation: CANNEFF® DENTAL GEL is a modern, evidence-based medical product that helps gently but effectively. CANNEFF® DNT GEL combines modern science with concrete clinical benefits. It addresses common oral inflammations in an innovative, non-antibiotic way and also contributes to the national AMR strategy. With its evidence base, broad applicability, and good tolerability, it precisely meets the requirements of the Austrian healthcare market – from the perspective of both dentists and patients.
